50 shades of SU colour.......

Long before we had heard or even read the 'Fifty Shades' saga, 'Stampin' Up!' were leading the way with  their fifty shades of SU colour! My crafty friends tell me that I have a thing for 'Soft Suede' from the 'Neutrals' group, so following in the footsteps of 'Anastasia Steele'- and her trying something new!!! I turned to my SU version of 'Christian Grey'.......my trusty 'Colour Coach' for guidance into a new colour combo!!

I had a desire to use the lovely 'In Colour'- 'Wisteria Wonder' and the colour coach suggested that a good tonal match would be 'Elegant Eggplant'- a combo that I have never tried before......... but what about a 'Neutral'....well SU may have a whole rainbow of Fifty colours in their range but they don't have fifty shades of grey, they only have one colour that is referred too as grey, and that is 'Basic Grey'- well there was nothing basic about Mr Greys, grey eyes, so I choose 'Sahara Sand' the colour that can sometimes looks icy grey or sometimes look warm grey!!!
As it was my first time, I stayed safe, and made a few pillow box die, thank you's for my 'Stampers 5' group. The grey of the tea cup, from the 'Summer Mini' SU Stamp Set- 'Tea Shoppe' looks very warm on these, and you can just make out the over stamping, on the 'Cup of thanks' label, with the flourish, from the 'Creative elements' SU Stamp set.
Each of the boxes got a little hand cut butterfly, that was stamped from the 'Creative elements' SU Stamp set, in the 'Elegant Eggplant' SU ink.
To finished each of the boxes, I gave each of the tea cups a little 'Itty Bitty' punched flower in 'Wisteria Wonder' SU card stock, with a little SU rhinestone gem for the centre, they also all got a squirt of the 'Champagne- Shimmer Paint' that has been watered down and put in a misting bottle!
So now I had dipped my stamping into a new colour combo, there was no stopping me.......
Getting braver, I made some little card blanks from some 'Sahara Sand' SU card stock, and decorated them with Stamping- using the same Stamp sets as the pillow boxes.
For this card, I used the large tea cup from the 'Tea Shoppe' Stamp set and stamped the label from the same set too, it works with the large oval and scalloped punches beautifully.
The other two cards were made using waste 'Wisteria Wonder' card stock, from when I die cut the boxes, to make a decorative panel with the addition of the flourish stamp from the 'Creative elements' SU Stamp set and as with the Pillow Boxes I used 'Elegant Eggplant' SU ink.
To add a little variation to the other, I just tuned the band horizontally!
The paper lunch bag was decorated in the same way too, using the larger label text stamp from the SU 'Tea Shoppe' Stamp set, it coordinated beautifully with the 'Extra Large oval Punch' too!
To the bag, I added the large tea cup, which was stamped in  'Sahara Sand' SU Ink and hand cut. To finish  a butterfly, stamped in 'Elegant Eggplant' SU ink,  and was stuck to the top edge of the tea cup.

I have enjoyed my foray into using different SU colours. and as the old adage goes......

'Don't knock it, till you try it!!'...

I am off to twiddled my colour coach,
a little more!!

Making use of the new large size scalloped punch,

A bit of bunting......

At half seven this morning, the sky looked promising there was a hint of blue sky and sunshine, and when seeing a Heather off to a friends birthday celebration, at 8am (yes! I was up and dressed, this Sunday morning!!!) I thought they may have been blessed with some sun.... now looking out of the window, its dull, grey and damp, so lets hope the card brought some sunshine!!
It's a take on a lovely card we made, at the recent 'Julies Jem's' training event, Julies 'Baggy Book' showcased 5 different card using the new 'Pennant Parade' SU stamp set (wood mounted 122740- £20.95/ clear mounted 122742- £16.95), and all I did for my version is add, 'Ella' & '8', using my SU 'Big Shot' and my 'Timeless Type' dies.
Here you can see the dimension of the little flower embellishments. It was created by simply rubbing the end of the bone folder in the centres of the punched 'Boho Blossoms' flowers, whilst they were on the 'Foam SU Mat'. The colours are all the New 'In Colours' apart from the colour I have renamed as 'Indigo Pool' which is really 'Island Indigo'!! And the offer to get these free, when you sign up as a demo, finishes at the end of the month, email me for details: sally-johoughton@hotmail.co.uk And if you don't want to do workshops the 'Starter Kit' is packed with loads of really usable stuff, and you can pick your own stamps to the cost of there suggestions too, all with a massive saving off the catalogue price!!
The inside was given, a tiny bit of simple decoration, using a nifty punch trick, have you worked out how yet? Email me for details xx
The sentiment is short, sweet & sassy- for a small persons birthday, and a little SU bling, really makes it pop!!
So what are you up to today?? The reason I was up early, is that Heather was choosen to attend a very different kind of party.....she has gone to do some serious outdoor activities....Archery. Absailing & A 30ft Leap of Faith!!! (I cant hold scissors as my hands are shaking......at the thought of my 10yr old doing such amazingly brave stuff with her friend, who is only 8!!)
I know they will be supervised, but mums cant help but worry! xXx

On the side of a small misty hill & back!!!

Gosh what a weekend, thank you to all who came to my fantastic launch night, on Friday, I hope you all had as much fun as I did! Thank you for your orders they have been submitted and hopefully will be with us for the end of the week.....all our SU parcels come from Germany and are delivered by Mr UPS, but in a white van, so I will be on the look out, as lately the deliveries have been coming before the dispatch emails!!!

Well after a late finish on Friday I was up early on Saturday to help Steward at a 'BHS TREC' event, it was a great to learn about 'TREC' and even though it was very misty all the riders made it back home safely.... And our friends competing in the pairs section came 3rd :-)!!!

After all the fresh air on Saturday night I was pooped and didn't get round to crafting, then on Sunday we were spending time getting ready for some work on the house, the bad news about this and crafting is that I am going to have to totally empty my Craft room next week, as the electrician needs to get under the floor boards................ :'( the only silver lining about this mammoth task, is that he will fit me some extra plug sockets!!!

So to save precious craft time, I am showing you what my lovely launch night attendees had a choice of making!

Its another lovely make with the 'Pennant Parade' stamp set from SU, and I have used it to make a flower and a butterfly!!

I used the New 'In colour' Ink pads......which are free, along with a pack of card, if you sign up as a demonstrator during October!

The cards bases are made from our 'Whisper White' card stock and look fantastic with the splashes of 'in colour'- 'Pool Party, Island Indigo, Wisteria Wonder, Calypso Coral & Lucky Limeade'!

Simple stamped detail was added to the cards using the tiny star/ flower stamp, that's in the 'Pennant Parade' stamp set.

The sentiments came from the same set too, they are just so, so, cute & I had all the ladies fooled into thinking 'Stampin' Up!' had a new dinky label punch, until I had showed them the trick, my lovely SU mum had showed me!!

I would love to show you too!
